1998 TRIUMPH SPRINT 900 EXECUTIVE — RARE BRITISH SPORT TOURER
34,276 Miles | Factory Touring Bags | 885cc Triple
Here’s something you simply don’t see every day — a 1998 Triumph Sprint 900 Executive, one of the final versions of Triumph’s original Hinckley-built Sprint 900.
The Sprint Executive was only produced for 1997 and 1998, making this a particularly interesting piece of modern Triumph history. The Executive was Triumph’s touring-focused version of the Sprint, combining genuine sport-bike performance with long-distance comfort and factory hard luggage.
At its heart is Triumph’s legendary 885cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine — the motor that helped establish the character Triumph triples are still famous for today.
The Executive was introduced near the end of the original Sprint 900’s production run. Triumph took the proven Sprint platform and equipped it for riders who wanted to cover serious distance without giving up the handling and personality of a sporting motorcycle.
Period reports described the Executive as the touring alternative to the Sprint Sports, with the Executive receiving its luggage as part of the package.
And then it was gone.
After 1998, this generation of Sprint Executive disappeared as Triumph moved into the next generation of Sprint sport-tourers.
That short production window makes surviving Executive models increasingly uncommon — particularly here in Canada, where you simply don’t encounter many of these early Hinckley-era Triumphs anymore.
A GREAT PIECE OF MODERN BRITISH MOTORCYCLE HISTORY
This isn’t another modern sport bike that looks like everything else on the road. It’s an analog, carbureted, three-cylinder Triumph from an important period when the reborn Triumph Motorcycles was establishing itself as a serious international manufacturer again.
The triple has a fantastic sound, plenty of torque and loads of character, while the hard luggage makes it a motorcycle you can actually take away for a weekend or a cross-country trip.
34,276 miles is very reasonable mileage for one of these well-regarded 885cc Triumph triples.
If you’re looking for something different — something with history, character and real touring capability — this 1998 Triumph Sprint Executive deserves a look.
